April at Sean’s Place

April was another action-packed month at Sean’s Place, filled with new opportunities, inspiring stories, and plenty of moments that brought our community together. Whether it was stepping up the fitness game, engaging with local legends, or challenging ourselves with something new, there was no shortage of excitement. As always, the atmosphere was one of support, friendship, and shared achievement. Here’s a look back at what we got up to:

Football Club

Our Football Club continued to grow, with a fantastic Skills and Drills session this month. Our members were able to refine their techniques, improve their teamwork, and have fun while doing it. It’s always great to see the enthusiasm and commitment from everyone, regardless of their skill level.

Muay Thai Aspire Gym Visit

Over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, our Muay Thai class had an incredible opportunity to visit Aspire Gym and train with our ambassador, Liam McCracken. Liam’s story of resilience and determination is nothing short of inspirational. After surviving a life-changing accident, Liam has not only returned to fighting but is making waves in the MMA world, with an impressive first-round knockout in his latest fight.
This visit was more than just a training session—it was a chance for our members to connect with someone who embodies strength, courage, and perseverance.

Liam’s impact didn’t stop there; the following week, he joined us for the Strong Minds Programme, sharing his powerful story of overcoming adversity. We’re so grateful to have him as a role model for our members. Thanks for joining us, Liam!

Cycling Club

Our Cycling Club showed no fear of the wind as they powered through an impressive 55km ride this month. With a well-deserved coffee stop along the way, the sense of camaraderie and achievement was evident. It’s always a highlight to see our members pushing their limits and supporting each other on these rides.

An Afternoon with John Barnes

One of the absolute highlights of April was welcoming LFC legend John Barnes to Sean’s Place. The afternoon was a true celebration, as Chris Kirkland led a fascinating Q&A session with John, diving into his incredible career and sharing stories from his time on the pitch. The event ended with John performing his infamous World Cup rap, much to the delight of our members.

A huge thank you to our friends at Red Neighbours for making this unforgettable day happen. We know that Sean would have loved to meet John and hear his stories. It’s moments like these that remind us of the power of sport and community, and how we’re able to create lasting memories for so many people.

Fisbee Golf

We took our members out for a fun-filled day of Frisbee Golf in Manchester this month. It was a brilliant outing, full of laughs, friendly competition, and some surprising shots. A big thank you to all the members who joined us—it was a day to remember, and we’re already looking forward to the next one!

Strength and Conditioning

Our Strength and Conditioning classes continue to be a fantastic success, with a brilliant atmosphere that welcomes both new and regular members. It’s inspiring to see new faces jumping into the sessions and being embraced by our community. Thanks to Mark and the whole team for making each session so engaging and effective. Well done to everyone who took part!

Walk for Autism

As April marked Autism Awareness Month, we were proud to take part in raising awareness of ASC. Fifteen of our members joined us for a meaningful awareness walk, which ended with a picnic where everyone had the opportunity to learn more about autism together. It was especially powerful to hear some of our members share their own lived experiences. A big well done to everyone involved in such an important and thoughtful event.

Palm House Live Music Event

Our Over 60’s group enjoyed a wonderful day out at the beautiful Palm House in Sefton Park. The afternoon was filled with live music, singing, dancing, and plenty of great company. It was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to relax, connect, and enjoy a lively and uplifting atmosphere.

Cycling Track Event Day

We rounded off April with an exciting day at the cycling track. These sessions are a brilliant reminder that cycling truly is for everyone, with a range of bikes available to suit all abilities. Whether experienced riders or those returning to cycling after many years, everyone was able to get involved, build confidence, and enjoy the day together.
