February at Sean’s Place

As 2026 continues, at Sean’s Place we’ve been proud to offer a range of exciting opportunities and activities for all our members. Our now annual Moel Famau trip returned, we celebrated Time to Talk Day, and we’ve continued to support and uplift one another in even the small, everyday ways that make such a difference.

Accredited Courses

We are incredibly proud to now be able to offer our own accredited courses to members at Sean’s Place. Over the years, we’ve worked with some fantastic providers, but unfortunately funding for their courses became scarce and they were unable to continue delivering them.

Providing training and courses has always been a key part of our programme — offering members either a stepping stone towards new opportunities or simply a reminder that they are capable of achieving great things, regardless of age, background, or previous education.

Now, thanks to our amazing team, we can deliver accredited courses in-house for those who want to further develop their knowledge. In February, six of our members successfully passed their assessments for our newly accredited Understanding Mental Health training programme. They have been wonderful to work with, drawing on their lived experiences to enrich their learning — something that will no doubt help others in the future.

Moel Famau Walk

Returning this February was our Moel Famau community walk with Frequency Fitness. This was an incredible opportunity for people to connect, share experiences, and raise awareness around mental health.

Everyone showed remarkable determination as we made our way to the summit, turning a tough climb into a heartwarming experience filled with friendship, achievement, and shared purpose. We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who took part and supported the event.

The Nest – Laurel’s Wood Trip

This month also marked the completion of the first two Strong Minds Programmes. To celebrate, both groups of young men were reunited and rewarded with a trip to Laurel’s Wood, where they took part in outdoor activities and enjoyed time together in nature.

Ten weeks ago, these young men were strangers. Each was experiencing their own struggles and was not used to talking about their feelings or understanding how to cope when times became tough. The feedback they shared with us was incredibly powerful — they now feel calmer, more in control of their emotions, and better equipped with techniques such as breathing exercises to support them when they feel overwhelmed. Along the way, they also formed some fantastic friendships.

The support does not end there. The Mix continues every Thursday evening, giving these young men the opportunity to carry on their journey with us. We have also already welcomed a new cohort of students onto the programme.

Pancake Olympics

Another annual favourite returned in February — our Pancake Olympics! This much-loved event gave everyone the chance to unwind with some silliness, laughter, and light-hearted competition. We also celebrated our founder Debbie’s birthday!

Cycling Track Event Day

We also returned for another day at the Cycling Track for an inclusive riding session. Members of our service who live with a range of physical challenges confidently enjoyed cycling together. The progress some of these individuals have made on their journey has been incredible, and we couldn’t be prouder of them all.

As well as all of these special moments for our members, throughout the month of February we have continued to offer 1:1 counselling support  to ensure we are giving our members a well rounded package of care.
