January 2025 at Sean's Place

New for 2025!

Here at Sean’s Place, we are always striving to give our members a full and varied social support timetable that offers something for everyone. Following feedback from our members, we started January with some new sessions. Here is what’s new…

MUAY THAI CLASS

We now open on a Saturday morning and offer our members a Muay Thai class. This is a great way to help our members stay fit and healthy, challenge themselves and learn all about the culture of Muay Thai. This has proven to be a really popular group so far and it has been great to see the guys progress over the last month.

BRITISH SIGN LANGUAGE COURSE

Here at Sean’s Place, we work with lots of different partners to be able to collaborate within our communities and offer a wide variety of opportunities to our members. Over the last 12 months, we have developed our partnership with Hugh Baird College and their adult learning department. Resulting from this we currently have members attending each week to learn Bristish Sign Language and at the end of this,. have the chance to gain an accredited qualification. Those on the course are finding it really enjoyable and are loving learning such a unique skill.

TIME TO TALK GROUP

Time to talk is our new peer support group which is facilitated by two of our counsellors and this group offers our members to get together once a week and talk about any stresses and strains they have been up against and support one another and focus on finding positive outcomes. It really is great to see the lads leaving the centre with a smile on their faces after they have received support from one another.

Frequency Fitness

As we entered 2025, we b egan a new partnership with Frequency Fitness. This local clothing company are really behind breaking the stigma of men’s mental health and they visited the centre and met with lots of our members from all different walks of life and heard their stories firfst hand of some of the challenges they have faced. Frequency also decied that they would like to support our work, by organising a fundraising walk up Moel Famau next month. Watch this space for updates!

If you would like to sign up to join the walk and support Sean’s Place, please follow this link and secure your space: Frequency x Sean’s Place Sponsored Walk Tickets, Sun 16 Feb 2025 at 11:00 | Eventbrite

SEAN’S PLACE TURNED 5!!

As January came to a close, it marked 5 years of Sean’s Place. This was a very poignant time for all of our team as the way the service has grown and developed over just 5 short years, really is incredible! We have gone from a small room supporting a handful of men once a week, to supporting over 300 men every week and working with lots of different partners to raise awareness and influence change around mental health support.  We have been supported on this journey by lots of amazing people and organisatgions and as ever,l feel extremely grateful for the support we have had in reaching this 5 year milestone. We invited our members to celebrate with us and as always had a lovely evening putting smiles on faces and showing our members just how amazing and brave they are for turning to us for support.
