January at Sean’s Place

As we stepped into the new year, January at Sean’s Place was all about new beginnings, setting intentions, and continuing our journey toward mental well-being. The start of the year offered a chance to reflect on where we’ve been and look forward to the growth and possibilities ahead. It was a time to renew our commitment to self-care, community, and mental health.

This month, we focused on resilience and building strength together as we navigated the challenges that the new year brings. Through engaging workshops, creative sessions, and open conversations, we were there to support each other as we set the tone for the months to come. At Sean’s Place, we’re creating space for both reflection and action, fostering a sense of hope and connection as we move into 2026.

As always, we welcome you to be part of this supportive community where kindness, understanding, and laughter are key to building a strong foundation for mental wellness in the year ahead.

Quiz Night

We kicked off 2026 with our usual Monday roster of Coffee and Connect and Meditation and Sound Bath sessions. On the following evening, we hosted our first Quiz Night of the year testing our members on all things 2025. Thank you to everyone who attended and congratulations to the winners!

Staying Active

This January, our members have hit the ground running with a variety of exciting physical activities. Our weekly Muay Thai sessions continue to bring both familiar faces and new members together, offering a chance to build strength and confidence in a supportive environment.

The Walking Club has also been back in action, with members ranging from 22 to 84 completing a 5.3-mile hike, proving that no matter your age or background, there’s always room for movement and connection.

The Cycling Club kicked off the new year with their first ride of 2026, cycling from Sean’s Place to the Baltic and back, while our Football Club also embraced an exciting new year of teamwork and friendly competition.

Our monthly Strength and Conditioning class also returned. These sessions are always incredible. The strength and courage our members show every time getting on the mats is amazing. We are so proud of everyone who took part, especially during the breathwork section of the night, where it takes real trust and courage to let go and explore our emotions.

These activities reflect the heart of Sean’s Place — a community where everyone, regardless of age or experience, can come together to stay active, connect, and support one another on their mental health journey.

Retreat Day

For the first time this month saw us hosting our very first Men’s Retreat day for our members. This was led by our amazing Kelly and included meditation, yoga, and a confidence and self-esteem workshop that opened honest conversations and powerful sharing.

The day closed with calming breathwork and a deeply relaxing sound bath, beautifully facilitated by Jodie. We were also lucky to have barber Samantha Cross join us to offer the lads haircuts.
The feedback we’ve already received has been absolutely incredible. Thank you so much to every single person who had the courage to show up and take part, we couldn’t be prouder of you.

Men’s Mental Health Talk with Chris Kirkland

In January our friends from LFC Red Neighbours and the LFC Foundation joined us for their monthly visit of the 2026. Guest speaker and friend of Sean’s Place Chris Kirkland spoke to our members about his incredible footballing career and his own struggles with mental health, inviting our members to ask questions and talk about their own experiences. It was very powerful to see over 40 men share and speak so openly, finding support in one another.

Walker Art Gallery Trip

Towards the end of the month, a number of our Over 60’s Club joined us for a relaxed and enjoyable cultural day out for a visit to the Walker Art Gallery, one of Liverpool’s most beautiful and inspiring galleries. We spent the day exploring world-class paintings, sculptures and exhibitions in good company, with plenty of time to chat, reflect and enjoy the experience together. Everyone had a great time and left feeling inspired for our creative sessions back at the centre.

Frequency Chester Trip

To round out January a number of our members joined our partners at Frequency for their first mental health event of 2026. This event held in Chester comprised of a kettlebell workout where everyone came together to support one another and proved that 2026 is a year of strength in all forms.
