March at Sean’s Place

Throughout March, we continued to provide a wide range of opportunities designed to help our members stay active, connected, and supported in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Alongside our regular weekly programme, we were delighted to introduce several new sessions and special events, giving members even more ways to engage, try something different, and build meaningful connections. As the month progressed, there was a real sense of energy and community across the centre, which we were proud to celebrate as we headed towards the Easter weekend.

Fitness Sessions

This month saw the launch of three brand-new fitness sessions, created with inclusivity and accessibility at their core. Our aim was to ensure that everyone, regardless of their current fitness level, physical ability, or personal goals, could experience the positive impact of movement on both physical and mental wellbeing.

First Steps to Fitnes’ was designed as a gentle introduction for those who may be new to exercise or returning after a break, offering a supportive and encouraging starting point. Our Accessible Chair-Based Fitness sessions provided a safe and effective way for individuals with limited mobility to stay active, improve strength, and boost confidence. Meanwhile, Foot Golf brought a fun and social twist to physical activity, combining light exercise with friendly competition and plenty of laughter.

Rhythm & Riffs Guitar Club

We were also excited to launch the Rhythm & Riffs Guitar Club, a fortnightly session aimed at intermediate and experienced guitarists. This group offers a relaxed and creative space for members to come together, share their passion for music, and develop their skills collaboratively. Whether playing familiar favourites or experimenting with new sounds, the sessions have quickly become a place of encouragement, creativity, and connection through music.

Myths, Legends and Old Wives’ Tales of Liverpool

March also brought a fascinating step back in time, as we welcomed local historian Chris from Hidden Liverpool for a special presentation. Members were captivated by stories exploring the myths, legends, and old wives’ tales that form part of Liverpool’s rich cultural heritage. The session featured a collection of old photographs and intriguing historical insights, sparking conversation and giving members the opportunity to reflect on their own memories and experiences of the city’s past. It was a truly engaging and nostalgic afternoon enjoyed by all.

BBC Radio Merseyside

In a change to our usual Tuesday routine, we hosted a special Coffee and Connect session with an exciting twist, as BBC Radio Merseyside broadcast live from our lounge. The atmosphere throughout the morning was fantastic, with members and guests coming together to be part of something unique. We were incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us bright and early and helped make the event such a memorable success. It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the spirit of Sean’s Place to a wider audience.

Easter Basket Making

To round off a busy and vibrant month, we embraced the arrival of spring with a creative Easter basket-making session. Following the success of our Christmas wreath workshop, members once again had the chance to get hands-on and create something beautiful to take home. With the support of our friends at LFC Red Neighbours and the talented team from the Dutch Flower Shop, participants crafted stunning spring flower displays. The session was filled with creativity, colour, and a great sense of achievement, providing a perfect and uplifting end to March.
