As the weather began to turn and summer arrived, May was another busy and uplifting month at Sean’s Place. From Mental Health Awareness Week events to cycling trips, football tournaments and wellbeing sessions, it’s been a month full of connection, support and community spirit. We’ve loved seeing so many familiar faces through the doors, while also welcoming new members into the Sean’s Place family. Here’s a look back at everything we got up to throughout May.
We started May by enjoying some calmer and more creative sessions following a jam-packed week. The Friday began with our usual morning of yoga and mindfulness before welcoming members to our ever-growing Create and Connect group, which has become so popular it’s even had to move rooms! It’s clear how much these sessions benefit those who attend, and we love seeing the creativity and confidence that comes from the work produced.
The day continued with Quiet Connections, Coffee and Connect, and Jam Night, with members coming together throughout the day to socialise, relax and support one another in a welcoming environment.
Community Walk
This month we didn’t stop — even facilitating events and experiences for our members on Sundays! Over 100 people joined us for a community walk with Frequency to mark the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Week.
This partnership means so much to us. Frequency’s support and commitment to Sean’s Place has been incredible, and we’re so thankful to Hasan and the team for organising such a special event. It was lovely to see so many of our members attending, including our Nest boys and their families, as well as our Nest ambassador Liam McCracken. It was a fantastic way to spend the day surrounded by the very best people.
Cycling Trip
Another Sunday excursion saw our Cycling Club head to Llangollen to watch a bike race along Horseshoe Pass and cheer on friend of Sean’s Place, Rob. The whole day was fantastic from start to finish, with a particularly special moment as the group stood overlooking a rainbow before heading home. A big thank you to Tony for arranging the trip and well done to everyone who took part in the race too.
LFC Events
Another wonderful partnership we’re incredibly grateful for is with the LFC Foundation, who once again provided our members with brilliant experiences this month. As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, they hosted a fantastic football tournament where spirits were high throughout the day as we played alongside other community partners.
A further unforgettable moment came with a very special visit from the Champions League trophy. It was brilliant for our members to have the opportunity to see such an iconic piece of football history up close and share the excitement together.
Aspire Course
In May, ten of our members completed the fourth and final week of our Aspire self-esteem course and are now equipped with strategies and tools to help boost self-esteem and improve wellbeing in their day-to-day lives.
The group worked incredibly hard throughout the programme — recognising their inner strengths, challenging their inner critic, unpacking emotional baggage, and supporting one another every step of the way. We’re so proud of everyone involved and everything they achieved during the course.
Hairy Hikers
As we welcomed the warmer weather, our brave Hairy Hikers enjoyed a beautiful walk around the stunning Lunt Meadows. Everyone looked out for one another in the heat before enjoying some well-deserved ice creams at the end of the walk!
