Please see below our Sean’s Place News & Events January 2023!
We cannot thank you enough for continuing to support Sean’s Place this new year, your support is invaluable to all of us.
With your help, we have been able to support over 2,000 men in 2022 and we are so pleased to be able to showcase our highlights of 2023 so far! We have so many exciting plans for the rest of the new year, and we would love to share them with you below.
Thank You & Happy New Year!
Before we round-up January 2023, please take a moment to read this message from our founder Debbie…
“2022 has been one to remember at Sean’s Place…
⭐️We began the year moving into our own home
⭐️We supported over 2000 men which is more than ever before
⭐️We grew our team which allowed us to provide a wider range of support
⭐️We developed and designed new programmes to fill the gaps that existed in mental health support
⭐️We worked with some incredible partners to benefit people in our community
⭐️We rolled out our Family Support Network to help not just our members but their families too.
⭐️We have been supported by our incredible fundraisers, sponsors, volunteers and grant funders to make all of this happen.
2023 will be our 3rd year of running. We couldn’t imagine Sean’s Place would be what it is today when we opened in January 2020. We can’t wait to work harder in 2023 to ensure we continue to deliver support to men in our community. If you know someone who would benefit from our support please let them know about us so they can begin their journey with us 💙
Wishing all of our members, families, team and supporters a peaceful, healthy and Happy New Year!”
Sean’s Place Stories…
One of our lovely members at Sean’s Place, Michael, recently completed training in media and wanted to use his new skills to share his experience of accessing support. Michael has asked his friends to join him in answering some questions on video to encourage other men to also feel able to reach out for help. In each video they talk about what makes Sean’s Place special to them. We are so proud of Michael and all our amazing members in each video.
Our Sean’s Place Stories can also be accessed via our YouTube channel & website!
Our Man2Man programme, created in partnership with the LFC Foundation, has continued to be such a huge hit for our members this month. In the picture above, we can see the results of a session designed around the use of affirmations to promote self confidence and self-belief. Well done to everyone who took part!
Sean's Place Angling Club
We are also thrilled to say that our angling club is back up and running this month! Our angling club took a trip to the local lake where everyone had a catch up! The group enjoyed being out in the fresh air with lots of laughter and support for each other.
As well as this, the fabulous Michelle from Bay Tree Cookery Academy has also been cooking up a storm with some of our members this month. The picture above shows our Italian Week where the guys created some delicious homemade pizzas, pasta and risotto! We cannot wait to try some more fantastic food during next weeks Asian Week.
Our incredible team came together earlier this month to take part in some invaluable team training. We were joined by Sefton’s Domestic Violence Service who delivered training around Domestic Abuse and Coercive Behaviour. Thank you to everyone who gave up their Tuesday evening to further their learning to better support our members.
Sean’s Place also attended the National Suicide Prevention Conference in London this month, with the Lee Cooper Foundation, to learn more about how we can support our members. We were able to hear from some amazing speakers including Professor Louis Appleby who told us more about the National Suicide Prevention Plan!
We have also had amazing continued success with our therapeutic groups this month! This includes our Bereavement Group, our RADS Hypnotherapy Group and our Family Support Network.
All 3 therapeutic groups have made such a difference to reducing anxiety, stress and depression.
Take a look at some of the feedback we have received since the start of 2023 above.
HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY TO US!
On the 30th January 2023, Sean’s Place has officially been open for 3 years! Below is a message from Debbie who would like to thank everyone who has supported the work we do…
“I want to say thankyou from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has been a part of our journey so far.
I really wish we didn’t have to. I wish Sean found the right support for him and that he was still here now. The reality is that he didn’t find the right support and he’s not with me celebrating today.
What a wonderful legacy he has left behind though, how incredible that because of him we have managed to help so many men find the support they needed. I am incredibly proud of all our amazing team! I am grateful to all our supporters who have helped us in anyway they can. Most of all I am thankful to our members who found the strength to walk through our door and make Sean’s Place a truly special place filled with friendship, laughter and most of all HOPE!
Here is to many more birthdays, Sean’s Place continuing to grow and to many more men being able to have access to the right support and the right time.
Forever Our Captain
Although 2023 has been filled with so much hope and joy so far, we sadly lost one of our amazing members, David, earlier this month. Anyone who knew him had nothing but kind words to say whether that be about his cheeky smile or his kind and gentle manner.
Dave’s lovely wife Sheila told us Sean’s Place was his “happy place” and we are so glad we were lucky enough to share some very special moments with him.
Our thoughts are with Dave’s family & friends.
Sean’s Place in the community…
We have had so much unbelievable support from the local community already this year which has been absolutely amazing!
We are especially looking forward to a really exciting fundraiser we have coming up on Saturday 4th February!
The guys at the Super Necessary Podcast have very kindly arranged a Comedy Night whereby all the proceeds go directly to Sean’s Place.
We already can’t wait to show our support at the event and show our appreciation to our fantastic fundraisers.
We have lots of fantastic fundraisers planned for the rest of the year too which we will be sure to shout about!!
Do you want to have more confidence this year, meet new friends and have a positive routine? We have lots of free activities and groups available to learn a new skill, start a new hobby or simply have a coffee with likeminded men.
As well as our therapy service we also have lots of informal, fun programmes available!
Why not join us for a fitness class, guitar lessons, mindfulness, courses or cookery classes?
